My Robby and The Swoon

This Wednesday’s WIP is dedicated to my beautiful golden retriever Robby. He is six years old and we have him since he was two.

Every afternoon, me and my husband sit on our diy sofa, and watch TV Series, eating sunflower seeds (we are totally addicted to them). Robby is just in love with sunflower seeds. He gets all crazy when we sit on the sofa, because he knows that it is time for a treat.

Back to our WIP. I have been planning to make a Swoon quilt for quite some time now. Deciding on the fat quarters that I would use, was surely a challenge, but an easy one. The main goal was not using white as a background…

Materials

Using the Amy Butler “Soul Blossoms” line of fabric for the stars of the swoon, and for the background I purchased “Sketched” from Timeless Treasures.

I am having a small doubt about this block regarding color value. I am not sure if i picked the right combinations of fat quarters.

For now I am in love with this first block…fortunately all blocks are already cut and ready to sew…so I believe this top will soon be finished.

Welcome to Zarkadia Quilting Co.!

Quilts are the most intimate and personal of objects. They connect us with each other to the primal ground of the bed-the place we spend half our lives; where we are born, sleep, have sex, and die; the place where we replenish ourselves and dream our dreams; the place of nurture and healing, where we retreat in sickness and frailty; and the place where we receive the comfort and care of those who love us.

Oh my gosh, Robby is too cute! I would give him all the sunflower seeds. I also love the “Sketched” fabric in that block!

The “Sketch” line is totally perfect for a semi-solid background. I totally recommend it.

Thank you Ashley! I’ ve had this line for ages, and really did not like it in any quilt pattern…don’t know why. But in the swoon they are just glowing!

I love your choice of fabrics – I think this might be my favorite use of Soul Blossoms!

I think the colors just sparkle.  The blue really makes the fat quarter choices pop.  Definitely something I would choose.  And Robby is just darling!
