Farmer’s Wife QAL: Week 13

I had forgotten how I’m enjoying making the Farmer’s Wife blocks. With the pregnancy and then the birth of our baby, the QAL went down on my priorities list (as expected). The past week I’ve dedicated almost 4 nights in paper piecing Farmer’s Wife Blocks. I instantly remembered how I love piecing those blocks!

With all the 1930s blocks running around on Instagram and FB, I have been dying to start again FWQAL. I also bought the 1930s book and I am going to try English Paper Piecing those blocks, instead of foundation pp. We’ll see how that goes.

For this week’s Farmer’s Wife QAL, I made these blocks, using foundation paper piecing and Lecien fabrics.

no. 82 Spider Legs

This was a much more intricate block, because of the tiny pieces, but with Foundation Paper Piecing I managed to piece it much more easier than I thought.

no. 16 Calico Puzzle

This is a straightforward block, no surprises, and really easy to piece even without paper piecing. You can find my video tutorials for this block in my channel The Quilt Codex.

Welcome to Zarkadia Quilting Co.!

Quilts are the most intimate and personal of objects. They connect us with each other to the primal ground of the bed-the place we spend half our lives; where we are born, sleep, have sex, and die; the place where we replenish ourselves and dream our dreams; the place of nurture and healing, where we retreat in sickness and frailty; and the place where we receive the comfort and care of those who love us.
