Square in square quilt

My first finish for 2016! Yeah!!! Finally a finished quilt! I sat down yesterday night and bound this beauty. You cannot imagine my joy for this finish…mainly because my time is so limited the past 5 months, since Orestis was born.

This quilt contains 25 “square in square” blocks each measuring 8,5” inches, including seam allowance. It was quilted edge to edge with two straight lines of 1/4 of an inch apart from each vertical and horizontal seam.

This quilt is for sale in my SHOP. SOLD

Quilt Process

Machine pieced, quilted and hand-bound by me.
Quilt dimensions: 40” x 40” (102 x 102 cm).
Quilt pattern: The Square in square block, a traditional block.

Materials used

All materials are 100% cotton.

Quilt front: Fat quarters mainly from Farm Fresh by October Afternoon (Riley Blake fabrics), and some from Early Bird by Cosmo Cricket (Andover fabrics), Playday by SEI and Metro market by Ann Kelle (Robert Kaufman fabrics).
Backing: Mama said sew (Moda fabrics)
Binding: Gingham cotton fabric that I bought from Istanbul.

2016 Finish-A-Long
Welcome to Zarkadia Quilting Co.!

Quilts are the most intimate and personal of objects. They connect us with each other to the primal ground of the bed-the place we spend half our lives; where we are born, sleep, have sex, and die; the place where we replenish ourselves and dream our dreams; the place of nurture and healing, where we retreat in sickness and frailty; and the place where we receive the comfort and care of those who love us.
