Mandolin quilt – WIP

This quilt is the Mandolin quilt. It started in the summer of 2019, and it is still ongoing. This pattern is written and sold by Tales of Cloth, and I highly recommend it, if English Paper Piecing is your thing.

For me an EPP project is my to-go project, meaning the project I take out of my home comfort, in the park, by the sea, on my vacations! It is super-portable and easy to make.

I decided to use only solid colors, to make a test on my color palettes, and so far it is going really great. I am making the 20 block version, and now I have already finished 17 main blocks, and 2 in-between blocks.

Of course, I knew from the start that this was going to be a long term project (a very long one), since I do not work on it consistently. Mainly I get the itch, every summer, and finish a great deal of the work in a month or two.

I hope you enjoy all the colors and boldness of this quilt. I can’t wait for it to finish. You can see my progress on Instagram. as I frequently post photos and updates. Thank you for reading!

Welcome to Zarkadia Quilting Co.!

Quilts are the most intimate and personal of objects. They connect us with each other to the primal ground of the bed-the place we spend half our lives; where we are born, sleep, have sex, and die; the place where we replenish ourselves and dream our dreams; the place of nurture and healing, where we retreat in sickness and frailty; and the place where we receive the comfort and care of those who love us.
