Every time I choose the next pair of blocks for my Farmer's Wife Quilt Sampler, I'm reminded how much variety is hidden within traditional patchwork. Some blocks are wonderfully simple, relying on repetition and contrast to create their beauty. Others are more intricate, using geometry to suggest movement and direction. This week I completed Block 19 – Checkerboard and Block 25 – Cups & Saucers , two classic quilt blocks that couldn't be more different in appearance, yet complement each other beautifully.
