I have been long waiting for the book to arrive, and finally it came! I am really excited to participate in the second Quilt Along of the Farmer’s Wife 1930’s Quilt. For the first Quilt-A-Long of the 1920’s Farmer’s Wife Quilt I am piecing all of my blocks using Foundation Paper Piecing. Well, guess what! I am piecing the second quilt blocks using English Paper piecing. I want to improve my technique so I decided to go with it for all the blocks. I purchased a glue pen for easy glue basting of the pieces and it is so much fun!
I will be using reproduction fabrics for all of my blocks (finally a project worthwhile to use them) and especially the entire collection of 30’s Playtime by Chloe’s Closet for Moda Fabrics (I think the 2013 collection) and some other spare fat quarters from other collections.
My first two blocks for this new Farmer’s Wife 1930’s Sew-Along are “Addie” and “Aunt”.
My favorite block so far! I adore these fabrics!
Technique: English Paper Piecing
Fabrics: All from the collection 30’s Playtime by Chloe’s Closet (Moda Fabrics)
This was an easy block, but since it was the first one I made, it came out a bit wonkier than I would like.
Technique: English Paper Piecing
Fabrics: Floral from the collection 30’s Playtime by Chloe’s Closet (Moda Fabrics) and blue from Adventures With Alice by Darlene Zimmerman (Robert Kaufman Fabrics)
There are two quilt-a-longs running at the moment the one on Gnome Angel’s Blog and one on Very Kerry Berry’s Blog. You can find all the info you need in their blogs! There are also the following places to share your blocks:
I hope someone from Greece joins in, and I already know at least one…Have a beautiful and creative weekend!
