Another baby quilt that I designed and pieced back in 2015, but I never got to finish it due to the baby coming (I’m always blaming Orestis). But I still adore those fabrics, and these little aqua stars.
This baby quilt is for SALE in my Shop SOLD.
Machine pieced, quilted and hand-bound by me.
Quilt dimensions: 45” x 46” (114 x 117 cm).
Quilt pattern: Original design.
All fabrics are 100% organic cotton.
Quilt front: Mod squad by Dan Stiles (Birch fabrics), white solid cotton, Kona cotton Robin egg and navy polka dot fabric.
Backing: A combo of solid white cotton fabric and leftover fat quarters from the front of the quilt.
Binding: Navy stripes premium cotton.
Batting: 100% cotton.
Date made: 27.4.2015 – 5.12.2016
I quilted the quilt by using the stitch-in-the-ditch method. I recently came to love this quilting, because it is fast and it generally gives a decent result.
The truth is that I really hate sashing my blocks. If I can avoid it, I will. And I am more drawn to designs that don’t have sashing. But this adorable star sashing baby quilt has been on my pinterest list for ages, and I just had to make it. What about you? Who else hates sashing?
Thank you for reading, have a nice weekend, and don’t forget to stop by my Instagram account @zarkadia to keep track on what I’m doing and maybe say hi once in a while!

This is darling. I loves the stars in the sashing. I find that I would rather add sashing than match a bunch of points, but I don’t add sashing to everything.

Thank you Jasmine! Well I can manage points because they are challenging, but I find sashing boring.

I think it is sweet! Those little aqua stars are the cutest. I don’t like or dislike sashing. Many blocks require a little “setting apart”. Good job!

Thank you Judy so much! So kind of you!
