Summertime…who wants it to be over? Who had a great time this summer? Who fell in love this summer? Better yet…who gave birth this summer? Memories, smells and colors remind me of summer…and all of this in a single baby quilt. Am I exaggerating? Maybe, but for me it feels this way. Only half square triangles and a curved quilting to give some contrast to the monotonous diagonal lines.
This baby quilt is for SALE in my Shop.
You can find it here:
Machine pieced, quilted and hand-bound by me.
Quilt dimensions: 43” x 49” (109 x 125 cm).
Quilt pattern: I used the Tree Everlasting quilt block and some inspiration from another beautiful quilt I found online. In the link you will find analytic instructions on how to make this block.
All materials are 100% cotton.
Quilt front: Fat quarters from Tailor Made by Cosmo Cricket (Andover fabrics), Botany by Lauren and Jessi Jung (Moda fabrics), a really cool japanese remnant fabric that I had, a few cat fat quarters from Julie Paschkis (In the beginning fabrics) and a yellow and white solid cotton fabric.
Backing: A combo of solid yellow, white, brown cotton fabric and a yard from a favorite polka dot fabric. I totally improvised on the backing, and yes I think it looks great!
Binding: Petrol polka dot premium cotton.
Batting: 100% cotton.
Date made: September 2016 – 24.8.2017
This quilt was my first Free Motion Quilting quilt!!! Whaat!
Yes! I was finally bold enough to do it, and of course I had a lot of inspiration from Emily Dennis of Quilty Love. She has a great finished quilt and a brief tutorial on how to make the quilt and how to free motion scallops…really helpful. So I tried scallops, and they are easy, forgiving and I am already quilting my 3d quilt with this design!
Thank you for reading, have a nice weekend, and don’t forget to stop by my Instagram account @zarkadia to keep track on what I’m doing and maybe say hi once in a while!

Adorable baby quilt, especially for a Fall baby. The colors are like Indian summer. Beautiful.
