Diaspora Quilt – WIP

When Pachy called for pattern testers, I rushed to sign up, because I like her design style very much, and intuitively, I knew it would “suit me”. Well, this pattern is absolutely awesome!

Fabrics

I wanted to make this pattern, again using only solids, with the exception of the center fabric. And again my eyes fell onto certain combinations, that I had in my mind while designing my #lifesaverquilt.

All of my fabrics are Kona cotton, and I particularly wanted to include the Pantone Color of the Year 2019: Living Coral. And that was not a very difficult decision. It was already included in my usual color palette. So Kona Coral was inevitable!

Piecing

The pattern is very easy and straightforward, and it uses half square triangles to get that amazing one-block-quilt design.

I decided I wanted a double bed gift for some very dear friends of mine. So that pattern fit the bill! I ended up with a Full quilt size of 84” x 84” inches.

I managed to piece this huge quilt top in less than 3 days! Super-fast!

Pattern Story

This pattern is dedicated to the ones that had to leave and dream of coming home. It is part of a pattern series that Pachy is releasing, that are all inspired by her country Venezuela. You can find her patterns in her SHOP.

Pantone Quilt Challenge 2019

My first entry for this year’s Pantone Quilt Challenge is this quilt top: the Diaspora Quilt. It is a beautiful pattern by Pachy Sarmiento-Bull for PSB Quilts. I am entering this quilt quilt under the ONLY QUILT TOP Category, and I am really looking forward to finishing it soon!
